Benefits of Conscious Awareness
Increased Sensory Awareness
On your journey of spiritual awakening, the perceptual observance you utilize for self-realization starts to expand and you start noticing your surroundings as you’ve never experienced them before. You become more attuned to sounds, sights, smells, and other input. It’s like updating and enhancing your sensory bandwidth boost, making your environment seem richer for noticing much more than you used to. This certainly does not work by upgrading a sensory component in your body but it rather clears out the unwanted thought which makes one, presently active, and allows data to flow through you consciously. Being able to extract more useful information from your sensory input is a huge benefit.
This could benefit greatly while communicating with people. For example, when giving a speech, you may notice subtle body language from the audience that would dictate whether you should speed up, slow down, add more humor, or make other on-the-fly adaptations. So even though you’re actively running through your presentation, you’re still able to remain conscious of what you’re observing in the room.
Overcoming SAD (Stress, Anxiety, and Depression)
Do you feel like you’re powerless or weak? That bad things happen and there’s not much you can do about it? That your situation is hopeless? Depression and anxiety put a negative spin on everything, including the way you see yourself and your expectations for the future.
Raising consciousness is like getting a RAM upgrade for the mind. It feels like your conscious mind can hold more content at once. This can make you significantly better at problem-solving, especially where there’s a large set of relevant information to consider. Designing a complex computer algorithm is a good example. The more conscious you are, the better you can understand all the details of the problem, and the more mental horsepower you can throw at the problem.
The most important problems are usually personal ones, like figuring out what kind of person you should strive to become and what you should do with the rest of your life. The challenge is finding an answer that made sense on all four levels: physical, mental, social, and spiritual.
Better Health and Fitness
Spiritual awareness further helps develop problem-solving traits, self-discipline, and makes you conscious of your habits which results in getting rid of the bad ones and adopting some new habits like eating healthy, exercising and focusing on what you feed your mind in the form of Books, Movies, and Music. It’s important to accept that you aren’t just a disembodied consciousness floating through the ether. You do in fact have a physical body, and its health will have a significant impact on your life. So accept that fact, and take good care of it.
